The ISO15926-4 TS (Technical Specification) has been published by ISO. This standard is the "dictionary" for the process industry. It contains terms, definitions and their hierarchy for activities and equipment commonly used in the process industry. These terms are used throughout the life cycle of the plant i.e. in design, engineering, procurement, construction, operation, maintenance and finally in demolition of any installation and plant.

This means the companies involved in these fases of the plant life cycle can now communicate using the same base language. This is a very important achievement after many years of hard work by technical experts and managers in the process industry in the ISOTC184/SC4 community responsible for industrial data standards.
