Implementation Forum 11-12 Nov 09
At the ISO TC184/SC4 meeting, Rotterdam

Summary and introduction
On 11-12 November 2009 the IF (Implementation Forum) of the TC184/SC4 meeting will be held in Rotterdam. The session on Wednesday 11 Nov 09 will be dedicated to company business cases of standardized dictionaries. This session will fully align with the CEN eCAT-ePPS seminar. The IF session on Thursday 12 Nov 09 will be dedicated to business cases of company applications of standards from the SC4 range of standards and from other standards such as web based standards. The basic concept of the IF is to provide a platform for users from the various sectors in the region and the SC4 experts to share information about practical application of standards. In the platform users can present the business case of their company investments in standards and SC4 experts can get feedback on the usefulness and applicability of the standards they have developed so that these can further be improved.

Objectives and issues
The objective of the IF is to:
1)    Provide a forum for SC4 community and users to share implementation experiences and plans, to discuss possible cross cooperation and support and to bring the collective know how to the users

2)    Provide a gateway between SC4 and users to achieve E&O, Success, technological innovation and training and to advise on effective implementations e.g. certification, metricsThis time the IF will address the specific issues of business cases, standards copyright, interoperability and usage of standards to improve control of environment and safety. 

Participants and registration
Participants are expected from:
1)    The various sector supply chains in the region such as from Aerospace, Automotive, Oil, Gas, Process & Power, Building, Rail and Infra, Civil and Construction and Manufacturing.
2)    Experts form TC184/SC4 SC4 and from the national bodies from The Netherlands, Germany, France, Norway etc.
3)    Members of the European standards groups eCAT-ePPS, FG-CDC, eBIF, CC3P and Orchid Staff can register for the IF either individually for Wednesday or for Thursday or for both sessions.

On Wednesday evening there will be a social event of TC184/SC4 to which all participants to the IF are cordially invited. Registration for IF and for Social event is done here

Wednesday 11 Nov 09 from 10.00 – 17.00 hrs
The session is dedicated to company business cases of usage of standardized dictionaries. Presentations are planned by: AT&T, Zeiss, Renault, NATO. The issue of Copy Right on standards will be discussed. The program can be downloaded here

Thursday 12 Nov 09 from 10.00 – 17.00 hrs
The session is dedicated to business cases of company application of a range of standards including the SC4 standards and other standards such as web based standards. Presentations are planned from Automotive, NATO Defence, Oil, gas, process & power, Rail and Building & Construction, Aerospace, Manufacturing.

Sponsoring
The IF offers a nice opportunity for software companies to present their capabilities by presentations, demonstrations and taking part in the debates. There will be modest facilities to mount showcases so that staff and experts can exchange views. This will help demonstrate that practical tools and solutions for implementation of information standards are becoming available.
