The key characteristic
of a joint industry project is that it is undertaken by a group of companies
thus joining strength to accomplish a business goal that no company in
its own right could achieve.
Current
joint project activities:
Common
piping specifications
During
the Pipes/2 project it was concluded by the workgroup of mechanical contractors
that there would be business benefit in creating a common piping component
specification library for which a prorotype was devleoped. The advantage
of all parties in the supply chain using this common library will be that
no longer a multitude of slighty different piping specification need to
be maintained by the various plant owners and contractors.
A working group is composed consisting of Plant owners, EPC contractors,
equipment suppliers to work out this concept and to give recommendations
for a solid project.
Cost
estimating using common industry definitions
The efficiency
of cost estimating of plant facilities can be significantly improved when
using common agreed interantional definitions of equipment. This is being
discussed with USPI-NL members. The plan is to make that technique available
in a workshop to members and interested companies.
